1. How many people do your cabins hold?

The cabins can sleep 2-7 people depending on the cabin.

2. Are the cabins on the water?

Yes, the cabins are located right on the shore of West Grand Lake.

3. Do the cabins have showers?

Yes, the cabins have bathrooms, showers, and potable water.

4. Can we bring our own boat?

Yes.

5. Do you have a place we can tie our boat to?

Yes, we have a boat ramp and 5 docks where you can leave your boat. We also have a large parking area for a boat and trailer.

6. Can a non-guest rent a boat from Grand Lake Lodge?

Yes, boats are available for rent to non-guests at $85/day for 8hp and $100/day for 15hp (includes gas).

7. How do we hire a fishing guide?

You can contact the Lodge for guide availability or search online.

8. Do you sell Maine fishing licenses?

We do not, but you can purchase one at the Pine Tree Store in Grand Lake Stream, or online.

9. Do you sell live bait?

We sell smelts in April and May, and the Pine Tree store sells worms.

10. Do you have kayaks and canoes or should we bring our own?

We have 2 canoes, 8 kayaks (2 doubles, 6 singles), and we also have 1 pedal boat and 1 stand-up paddleboard. Guest use is complimentary. Canoes and kayaks are available for non-guests to rent. Daily rates are $50, and $25, respectively.

11. What amenities do you have?

We have Wi-Fi, full kitchens, a boat launch and boat docks, fire pits and firewood, gas grills, laundry, picnic tables, a fish cleaning station and large freezer for storing fish and game meat, life jackets, boat seat cushions and paddles, and a playground area for children. There are books, magazines, puzzles, and board games available as well.

12. Do the cabins have cable?

No, the cabins don’t have TVs or cable. We hope you’ll be too busy enjoying the area!

 13. What is there to do in the area?

The town has a basketball and tennis court, and there is also a large baseball field. The Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT) has miles of dirt roads for ATVs, snowmobiles, and hikers. There are 11 hiking trails maintained by the DLLT, and many others throughout the region. Please inquire for more locations, and we can provide a detailed list for you. There are 25 geocache locations throughout the Downeast Lakes Community Forest. Acadia National Park is 2 hours and 25 minutes away, and Baxter State Park is a 2-hour drive. The Grand Lake Stream Historical Society Museum has exhibits of Native American artifacts, registered Maine guides, canoes (including an original birch bark canoe), the Grand Lake Stream tannery, and the townspeople. The museum is open 1-3 pm on Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day, or by appointment.

 14. Is there a swimming area/beach?

Yes, there is a swimming area by the Lodge cabins, and we also have a swimming platform/floating dock. There is also a small beach and swimming area near the town boat launch.

 15. Are you open in the winter?

No, we are open from ice-out (April/May) and close at the end of November.

16. Where can we eat?

The Pine Tree Store in Grand Lake Stream has groceries, beer, and a lunch counter (open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 7 am – 7 pm). There is also the Old School Family Restaurant in Princeton, Linda’s Pizza and the Nook and Cranny in Baileyville, and several other restaurants in Calais. There is a grocery store in Princeton located 12 miles from the Lodge.

17. Will we have cell service at the Lodge?

Cell service can be spotty in the area, but you should be able to send text messages, and you should be able to make a call over Wi-Fi. A new cell phone tower was put up in town in 2021, and AT&T has service here. Verizon and T-Mobile are coming soon.

 18. Do you allow pets?

Yes, but there is a $20/day fee for pets, and a 2-pet limit per cabin.

19. Where are the nearest airports?

Bangor International airport is located 2 hours away for commercial flights, and if flying charter, Princeton has a municipal airport located 15 miles from the Lodge. Penobscot Island Air and Katahdain Air fly to Princeton from Bangor. We can arrange for a shuttle if necessary. Katahdin Air specializes in seaplane fly-ins, and can drop you off right at the Lodge.
